There are weddings that you DJ because it’s your job. Then there are weddings you feel. Paige and Anthony’s wedding at Sugar Grove Vineyard: A Gathering Place in Newton, Iowa was the latter — a day full of heart, faith, and joy… and one I’ll carry with me for a long time.
It was my first time at Sugar Grove Vineyard, and I’ve got to say — it’s a hidden gem. A quiet, rustic venue tucked into the countryside that offers both charm and space for guests to gather, connect, and celebrate. I was excited to check it out, but even more excited to be there for Paige and Anthony.
A Personal
This day was extra meaningful because I’ve known Paige for years. She was one of my students back in high school, and we built a friendship that continued even after graduation. I’ve also gotten to know Anthony over the years, and watching the two of them grow together has been incredible. Being asked to DJ their wedding was a huge honor — and yes, I was a little nervous. You want to get it right when it’s for people you care about.
A Worship-Filled Ceremony
The ceremony was packed — so packed that people were still arriving and grabbing seats as we began. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and the energy was reverent and full of love. One thing that stood out was their live worship singer — guitar in hand, singing songs that filled the space with meaning. It wasn’t just about witnessing a marriage; it was about celebrating a shared faith. Paige and Anthony’s relationship is deeply rooted in their belief in God, and it showed in every moment.

A Unique Cocktail Hour Setup
Following the ceremony, guests headed outside for cocktail hour — yard games, sunshine, and plenty of mingling. It was different from most weddings I do, where guests usually funnel into the reception hall and check out the photo booth. But this setup worked. It gave people a chance to connect and relax in a casual, comfortable way before moving inside.
Introductions, Cake, and Family Blessings
Once guests were seated, we jumped into introductions, cake cutting, and a warm welcome from Anthony’s parents that led straight into a heartfelt blessing and dinner. Afterward, speeches brought the house down — Anthony’s brothers, his youth group leader, and a close friend of Paige’s each gave toasts that were personal, emotional, and full of love. Anthony also gave a heartfelt thank you to the vendors and all their guests — it’s always appreciated when a couple takes the time to do that.
First Dances & The Shoe Game (Yep, We Did It)
I don’t do the shoe game often anymore — but tonight, I made an exception. It’s not always in my comfort zone, but if something matters to the couple, I’ll always make it happen. It was a fun, lighthearted moment before the dances kicked off.

Their first dance had more movement than the usual slow sway — and while I’m not sure if it was choreographed, it definitely had intention. That’s becoming more common, and I love it. It shows thought, effort, and that you’re not afraid to have a little fun out there.
Let’s Talk About That Dance Floor…
This was a dry wedding — something I don’t experience too often. I’ll be honest: dry weddings can be hit or miss when it comes to the dance floor. You have to rely on your crowd to bring the energy. And let me tell you… they absolutely did.
From the first song to the final track, the dance floor stayed packed. Even when Paige and Anthony stepped away for sunset photos, the momentum never dropped. I threw down a mix of dance floor bangers and crowd favorites. We even got to drop “Juicy Wiggle” as a nod to their Iowa State roots. The crowd was all in, and the celebration couldn’t have ended on a better note.
A Glowstick Send-Off to Remember
The night wrapped with a glowstick send-off, and it was one of the most fun and unique exits I’ve seen in a while. Everyone stayed, cheered, and lit up the night — a perfect way to cap off a day full of meaningful moments.

Thank You, Paige & Anthony
Paige and Anthony, I love you both like family. Being part of your wedding was more than just another event — it was deeply personal, incredibly moving, and so much fun. Thank you for trusting me with your
big day. Thank you to your guests for showing up with love and energy. And thank you for reminding me why I love doing what I do.
Here’s to a marriage built on faith, friendship, and forever dancing.
