Brews, Love, and Laid-Back Vibes: Celebrating Cameryn & Reece Farrar at the Iowa Taproom 🍻

A couple weekends ago, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating Cameryn and Reece Farrar at one of Des Moines' most iconic venues — the Iowa Taproom. Located in the heart of the historic East Village, the Taproom is known for its rustic charm, exposed brick walls, and over 99 taps of all-Iowa craft beer. It’s got that perfect balance of industrial cool and warm energy, and let’s be honest — the food’s amazing too.

Cameryn and Reece booked our full wedding package — which included ceremony coverage, reception entertainment, and our signature photo booth setup. While cold sparks weren’t allowed at the venue, that didn’t stop this from being one seriously special celebration.

The ceremony and reception were both held in the same space, so we had to wait until after the ceremony to set up the photo booth. During cocktail hour, my team and I jumped into action. Kim (one of my wife’s longtime friends) handled the photo booth and props like a pro. She’s incredibly personable, organized, and honestly, just fun to be around — couples always love her.

Also with me that day was Cody — one of my best friends from college and a creative partner. Cody used to DJ for me, but now helps out with content creation and video. If you’ve seen our TikToks or reels, chances are Cody shot them. Having him on-site is always a blast — and a massive help.

Let’s talk ceremony. Short, sweet, and totally on-brand for Reece and Cameryn. At just under nine minutes, it was the second-shortest ceremony I’ve ever done — but that’s exactly how they wanted it. During our planning meeting, they told me they didn’t want too much attention on themselves. That meant shortened first dances, no extended spotlight moments, and more focus on just spending time with their guests. And you know what? I respect that.

After the ceremony, cocktail hour rolled on while we flipped the space. As the guests mingled, Cody helped me run the booth so I could be out interacting with everyone during introductions — something that always brings a personal touch to the experience.

Dinner was, as expected, fantastic. The Iowa Taproom’s menu leans into delicious, hearty comfort food — classic Iowa favorites done right. It’s one of my go-to restaurants in Des Moines, and every time I get to DJ there, I know I’m in for a good meal.

Once cake was cut and the formalities wrapped up, we moved into the first dance and parent dances — all shortened just as they’d requested. The dance floor started off a little slow, but as the night went on, the energy picked up and we had people out having a great time, dancing and singing along.

Cameryn and Reece — thank you so much for trusting The Sound Doctor DJ & Photo Booth to be a part of your day. You stayed true to who you are and made the day your own, and it was such an honor to help bring that to life. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and craft beer!

We’re just getting started with our 2025 season, and we’re so excited to be bringing back our weekly blog recaps every Wednesday! Follow along as we share more real weddings, behind-the-scenes stories, and inspiration from couples all across Iowa.
