Celebrating Brady & Bailey Miller's Epic Wedding at The Midnight Gem! 💍✨

This past Saturday, I had the incredible honor of celebrating with two of my favorite people, Brady and Bailey Miller, at one of my top five wedding venues in Iowa—The Midnight Gem in Swisher. If you haven’t been there, it’s an absolute gem. From its stunning aesthetics to the fantastic staff, and an amazing outdoor covered ceremony location, this venue is perfect for couples like Brady and Bailey. The views, the atmosphere, and the activities they offer are second to none. It truly made for a perfect setting for this beautiful couple to start their next chapter. 🌟🏰

Brady greeted me with a big hug as soon as I arrived, and I could feel the excitement and love in the air. Brady and I have been friends for about four or five years, working together at the school, and over time, we’ve really developed a strong friendship. So when he asked me to DJ his wedding, I was beyond excited. He said he wanted the best, and I couldn't help but laugh a little since he had never seen me DJ before, but I knew he was about to get the best. 🎶🎧

The setup for the day was a full package, including ceremony coverage, photo booth, cold sparks, DJ coverage, and uplighting. A fun little challenge we had at The Midnight Gem is the setup—typically, I don’t love being placed in a corner, but this venue has a retractable full wall, so the corner was the only spot that worked. Acoustically, it can be a little tricky, but with a satellite speaker to balance the sound, we made sure everyone could hear the magic happen. 🔊

The ceremony itself was perfect. With a light breeze blowing through the covered outdoor space, the moment was both peaceful and emotional. Brady and Bailey were visibly moved, especially when Brady teared up as he walked in with his parents and when Bailey walked down the aisle. These are the moments that remind me why I love what I do. ❤️ Afterward, while Brady and Bailey took some pictures, guests enjoyed cocktail hour and took full advantage of the photo booth run by Emily, a family friend, who did an amazing job capturing memories. 📸

My assistant, Cody (who’s been a huge help on so many occasions), was instrumental throughout the evening. From helping move the speakers inside during cocktail hour to repositioning the photo booth for the cake cutting, Cody made sure everything ran smoothly. And of course, shout-out to Emily, who managed the photo booth like a pro! 👏

The wedding party intros were a blast, especially the surprise grand entrance for Brady and Bailey. They came through the doors to the Flume Remix of "You and Me," timed perfectly with the drop. This is the level of detail I love to bring to the table—making it feel almost Hollywood-esque. 🎬✨

After introductions and the cake cutting, the evening flowed into dinner. I had the privilege of sitting down to enjoy a meal with Cody, Emily, and my wife (who was a guest at the wedding), which was a nice touch. Brady and Bailey opted for a more relaxed dinner, with their hosts and hostesses releasing the tables, which always makes for a smoother experience. 🍽️

When it came time for the speeches, Brady’s words hit home. He talked about how grateful he was to have such an amazing group of family and friends by his side, and how incredibly fortunate he felt to be marrying Bailey. The speech turned emotional, especially when he gave Bailey a heartfelt shout-out, thanking her for organizing everything and for always being there for him. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. 😢❤️

But the most memorable part of the night came when Brady and I surprised Bailey with a voiceover that led into their first dance. Her reaction was priceless—her jaw dropped, and she couldn’t believe we pulled it off. It was an unforgettable moment that I was so glad to be a part of. 😲💃

After the first dances, it was time to hit the dance floor. As expected, The Midnight Gem’s outdoor vibe meant the dance floor started a little slower, with guests heading outside to enjoy the cooler air. But once the temperature equalized, the dance floor exploded. It didn’t stop all night! One of the highlights? Bailey rapping Macklemore’s “Downtown” in front of the crowd. Talk about a showstopper! 🎤🎶 It’s moments like these that make weddings so special, and the energy from the crowd kept building throughout the night. 🔥

Brady and Bailey’s playlist was a mix of high-energy club anthems, and I had a blast putting my own spin on it to make it feel even more unique to their celebration. Special shoutout to Meagan and Donovan from Twelve One & Co.—Donovan is one of my favorite videographers to work with in the state. He and I have a great working relationship, and it’s always fun collaborating with them. I’m so excited to see the highlight video, as I know it’s going to be amazing. At the end of the night, Brady came up to me and said, “You were amazing. I knew you were good, but I didn’t know you were that good.” That right there made my night. Compliments like that from not just a colleague, but a true friend, mean the world. 🙏

And to top it all off, instead of a tip, Brady (a sneakerhead) surprised me with a pair of DJ Khaled Air Jordan 5s. 🙌🔥 Honestly, I might just become a sneakerhead because of these shoes! They’re fresh, they’re unique, and I can’t wait to rock them! Big thanks to Brady for such an awesome gift—I’ll be showing them off for sure. 👟💥
