Welcome back to our series on "Ways to Pack the Dance Floor: Tips & Tricks." If you’ve been following along, you know that in the last four parts, we’ve covered everything from curating the perfect playlist to taking requests from your guests. Today, in Part 5, we’re going to dive into one of the most crucial aspects of any reception—getting your guests onto the dance floor in the first place. As your Entertainment Designer, we have plenty of tricks up our sleeve to make sure your dance floor is packed from the first song to the last.

Starting with a Bang

One of the classic methods we’ve always loved is kicking off the reception with a well-known, high-energy song that everyone can’t help but dance to. Think along the lines of a remixed version of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” or a crowd-pleasing hit from Bruno Mars. These songs are universally loved and instantly recognizable, making them the perfect way to get the energy up and the dance floor filled.

However, as we continue to innovate and elevate the experience for our couples, we’ve discovered a new favorite way to kick off the dancing portion of the evening—getting everyone on the dance floor for a group photo.

The Power of the Group Photo

Why do we love this method so much? There are two main reasons, and both are all about creating unforgettable moments.

Reason #1: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Shot

Let’s be honest—when will all the people at your wedding ever be in the same place at the same time again? Probably never. That’s why gathering everyone together for a group photo is such a special moment. We coordinate closely with your photographer and videographer to ensure that this moment is captured beautifully. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime shot that you’ll cherish forever, and it’s also a fantastic way to bring everyone together, both physically and emotionally.

Reason #2 A Seamless Transition to Dancing

The second reason we love starting with a group photo is that it naturally brings everyone to the dance floor. Once we have everyone there, it’s easy to transition into dancing by dropping an absolute banger that no one can resist. With everyone already on their feet and in a celebratory mood, the dance floor fills up instantly, and the party is officially underway.

More Than Just Music—We Create Moments

This approach goes back to what we’ve been emphasizing throughout this series: we’re not just DJs; we’re Entertainment Designers. Our goal is to create moments that not only get people dancing but also bring them together in a way that’s meaningful and memorable. By coordinating with your other vendors, we ensure that these moments are not only experienced in real-time but are also beautifully captured for you to relive for years to come.

Why It Works

Starting the night with a group photo followed by a hit song works on so many levels. It breaks the ice, gets everyone involved, and sets the tone for the rest of the evening. Plus, it gives us a chance to shine as, crafting a unique experience that goes beyond just playing music.

Whether it’s your grandparents who might not usually hit the dance floor or your college friends who can’t wait to show off their moves, this method ensures that everyone is part of the action from the get-go. It’s an inclusive, fun, and effective way to make sure your dance floor stays packed all night long.
