Welcome back to our ongoing series, "Ways to Pack the Dance Floor: Tips & Tricks." If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve already covered some great strategies in the first three parts of this series. We’ve talked about how to choose the right music, how to create a seamless flow for the evening, and the importance of getting song requests from your guests. But today, we’re diving into one of the most crucial aspects of keeping that dance floor packed: **being the example of what you want your guests to be**.

Your wedding day is all about you, and believe it or not, your guests are going to be taking cues from you and your bridal party all night long. When you and your bridal party are out there on the dance floor, your guests will naturally follow suit. But if you’re distracted with photos, conversations, or other things, the energy on the dance floor can fizzle out pretty quickly. So, how do you ensure that you and your guests are enjoying every moment? Here are some tips to help you lead by example and keep the dance floor alive.

1. Take Your Wedding Portraits Before the Reception

One of the most common reasons couples miss out on dance floor time is because they’re off taking photos. While those post-ceremony shots are beautiful, they can pull you away from the party. That’s why we recommend taking all, or most, of your wedding portraits before the reception begins. Of course, you might want to save a few shots for that golden hour sunset (who doesn’t love a stunning sunset backdrop?), but by getting the bulk of your photos done early, you’ll be free to enjoy the dance floor once the reception kicks off.

2. Mingle During Cocktail Hour or After Dinner

Another time-consuming part of the evening can be mingling with your guests. It’s only natural that you’ll want to thank everyone for coming and catch up with family and friends. But if you spend too much time doing this once the dancing has started, you might miss out on some of the best moments of the night. Instead, try to talk and mingle with your guests during cocktail hour or right after dinner. These are what we like to call "dead times," when the dance floor isn’t in full swing yet. By getting your socializing done early, you’ll be able to dive into the dancing without interruptions.

3. Be Honest with Your Guests

One of the best ways to ensure that you get to enjoy your own party is to be upfront with your guests. Let them know that if they want to chat or make memories with you, the best place to do that is on the dance floor. You can even mention this during your thank-you speech or have your DJ make a quick announcement. When guests know that’s where you’ll be, they’re more likely to join you.

4. Communicate with Your Bridal Party

Your bridal party plays a huge role in setting the tone for the evening. If they’re out there having a blast, your guests will feel more comfortable joining in. Share these tips with them as well. Encourage them to mingle during cocktail hour or dinner, and remind them to keep the energy up on the dance floor. Remember, 9 times out of 10, your guests will be wherever you and your bridal party are. If you’re all on the dance floor, they will be too.

5. Take Breaks When Needed

It’s your day, and you deserve to enjoy it to the fullest. If you need a break, a drink, or a quick trip to the bathroom, that’s totally okay. Just make sure you don’t stay away too long. The more time you and your bridal party spend on the dance floor, the more likely your guests will keep the party going.

To ensure an unforgettable evening, lead by example for your guests and remember that we are here to assist you in making your special day everything you have envisioned, and even more.
